Born and raised in San Francisco, Warren began his quest for world domination at an early age. Making women swoon from age six on the piano, he continued to pursue other sexy instruments such as drum set, guitar, bass, and the ever-elusive, smoker’s voice. He also makes YouTube videos whenever he feels like doing ladies from around the world a favor. And they are awesome. Eastern Europeans love them. By day, he can be found teaching music; by night, he can be found hunting for tacos as he staves off hordes of female stalkers.
Growing up on the hard streets of Millbrae, CA wasn’t always easy for Brian Lum. Reaching into the impenetrable core of his stoic exterior, Brian pours out his thuggish life experiences into his music for Phonofield. He can be heard playing guitars, keyboards, and bass. Tenderly. In his spare time, Brian saves lives and makes loads of money.
In Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, a small city in a land far too cold for playing the guitar, Nick found himself honing his musical craft on nerdier, unmentionable instruments *cough* trombone *cough*. It wasn’t until he moved to California that he began his angry and passionate love affair with the guitar and rock-and-roll music as his hands could finally keep their warmth. There, he continued to stretch his creative boundaries with keyboards and samplers while crooning over fresh beats made in Ableton Live. Naturally, Phonofield was a perfect fit for his unbridled creativity and warm fingers. He hopes to one day make more money than Brian. One can hope.
Nick found his way into the band via a crazy but inspired rant on Craigslist. Turns out, Warren had just heard some of the greatest music of recent memory and was sick of not doing much with his own musical sensibilities. And so through Craigslist, he founded what would eventually become Phonofield. Although Nick was not the first creeper to respond, his talent was obvious. Standing out clearly from amongst the pedos and hacks, he was asked to join the band immediately. When another member was needed and could not be found, a turn of fate brought Brian Lum–a childhood friend of Warren’s and genius on many instruments–back to the SF Bay Area, his musical home.
The three continue to make music in hopes of one day being asked to score an independent film documentary on Häagen-Dazs.
